Fefu and Her Friends
Trinity University's Department of Human Communication and Theatre presents Cuban American playwright Maria Irene Fornés' innovative and groundbreaking FEFU AND HER FRIENDS from Apr. 12 - 20 in The Stieren Theatre.
FEFU AND HER FRIENDS has been praised as "funny and shocking... the dramatic equivalent of a collection of poems. . .Seven friends gather at Fefu's house for a kind of reunion... exploring lives and quite specifically the pain, strain, comforts, and fragility of women's lives. (Richard Eder, reviewing the original 1978 production, The New York Times.)
The play is divided into three parts. The audience views Part 1, set in the living room of Fefu's house. As these seven friends prepare a presentation on education and the arts, the audience is taken on an immersive experience throughout Fefu's house, discovering much more about this exceptional group of women. Trinity Theatre's production is directed by Dr. Rachel Joseph, with scenic design by Martha Peñaranda, costumes by Kellie Grengs, lighting design by Branden Rosen, and technical direction by Nicholes Hernandez.
Admission to FEFU AND HER FRIENDS is free, with seating located on the Stieren stage for only 62 audience members per show. Performances are Fri/Sat at 8 pm, Wed/Thu at 7 pm, Sun at 2:30 pm. Late-comers will not be seated once the performance begins.
There will be a Talk-Back following the Sunday matinee performance.
Note: Audience members will move through five different performance spaces in the Stieren Theatre. If members of your party require special guidance during this process, please contact dconnell@trinity.edu.
